Sophomore Project 2021
No Space? No Problem.
Problem Statement
Living in a small space can present numerous challenges, and one of the most significant ones is the limited amount of room for furniture. In particular, finding a large table that fits comfortably in a small living area can be a challenging task. Additionally, having guests over for meals and not having enough table space can make entertaining difficult and uncomfortable for those secluded from the table.

Rough Ideation
Chosen concept
A shelf that can be converted into a table, and then can quickly be turned back into a shelf to conserve space when not in use.
Would use baskets to contain materials being held by shelf.
Baskets would then be removed before transitioning into a table and placed back onto shelves after.

What's next?
As my knowledge and skills grow over the years, I find new and improved solutions for the designs I have created in the past.
The next step in this project is redesigning the product to solve some of the issues presented in the current design:
-
Baskets will crash down if not removed first.
-
There is no leg space under the "Table."
-
No seats included.
-
Distribution of weight may result in entire product falling over.
